What's Your Story?

Welcome to the 2012 Seepe Walters Short Story Contest

The contest is now open. 

If you are in grades 3-12 we are looking for your writing talent! 

Write an original short story on any topic for your chance to win fantastic prizes, including  a $100 cash grand prize.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the three age categories: Junior (grades 3-6); Intermedaite (grades 7-8) and Senior (grades 9-12).  One story will be selected as the best story overall across all age categories and will receive the Seepe Walters Award and $100 grand prize.  Plus, the top five stories in each age category will be printed and bound in an anthology which winners will recieve a copy of. (Read the 2011 anthology here). 

To be considered, entries must be uploaded using the form here on or before the deadline, be typed in 12-pt font, double-spaced and follow the minimum/maximum word count.

Minimum/Maximum Requirements: 

  • Grades 3-6: min 250 words, max 1000 words (1-4 pages)
  • Grades 7-8: min 500 words, max 2000 (2-8 pages)
  • Grades 9-12: min 1500 words, max 3000 (3-12 pages)

Deadline: Saturday September 30, 2012

All participants are invited to attend the Award Ceremony on Friday, November 4, 2012 at 7:00pm at the Lakeshore Branch located at 967 Innisfil Beach Rd in Alcona (705) 431-7410.

Those placing in the top five for their age category will be notified in advance, however specific placements as well as the grand prize winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.
