It's Time to Celebrate!


Authors of winning stories have now been notified.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Seepe Walters Short Story Contest this year.  We received a record number of entries and were amazed by the variety, creativity and quality of the stories. Everyone who participated should be very proud of themselves.  

Please join us to celebrate the literary talent of our community at the Seepe Waters Short Story Contest Awards Ceremony on Friday, January 26, 6:00 p.m. at the Lakeshore Branch.  

Meet Our Judges

Philippa Dowding is an award-winning copywriter, poet, and children’s author. Her books have been nominated for the Diamond Willow, Hackmatack, Silver Birch, and Red Maple awards. In 2017, she won the OLA Silver Birch Express Honor Book award for Myles and the Monster Outside. Philippa lives in Toronto.




Marina Cohen is an elementary school teacher and author of several books for middle-grade and young teens. Her novels include "Ghost Ride" - an OLA Red Maple honor Book, “The Inn Between” - a Junior Library Guild selection and an Ontario Library Association Best Bet, and “The Doll’s Eye” – a 2018 OLA Forest of Reading Silver Birch nomination. She lives in Markham, Ontario.





Wendy de Blauw is a local poet, playwright, and needlework artist.  She is  the mother of two imaginative souls who have sparked a passion for helping children develop and express their creative voices.
