Here's What You Need to Know
 If you're in Grades 3-12, you're invited to share your story! Whether you're a writing pro or just looking to see what you can do, we want to hear fom you. 

When does the contest open? 
The contest will re-open for submissions on June 1, 2018. You will find a webform on this page at that time. 

When does the contest close? 
All entries must be submitted by Monday October 29, 2018 at midnight. 

How long should my story be? 

  • Junior Division (grades 3-6): minimum 1 page, maximum 4 pages.  
  • Intermediate Division (grades 7-8): minimum 2 pages, maximum 8 pages. 
  • Senior Division (grades 9-12): minimum 3 pages, maximum 12 pages.

Does it have to be formatted a special way? 
Yes. All entries must be typed in 12-point font, double-spaced and submitted electronically as a Microsoft Word or Open Office document using the webform below. No PDFs please. 

How do I know if I've won? 
Authors of winning stories will be notified by email and/or phone in December.  There will be five winners from each category or 15 stories that will be recognized. 

Let's Celebrate! 
The award ceremony will be held on Friday January 25, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Lakeshore branch. Winners will receive award plaques, gift cards, and printed anthologies of the collected works. The best overall story will also win the Seepe Walters Award, a $100 cash grand prize.
