Special classes are offered on a wide range of topics, from Facebook to Skype to Web Design.  Click the picture above to see today's selection! View Calendar

All classes are held at the Lakeshore and Cookstown Branches, and last approximately 2 hours.  
Cost: unless otherwise indicated, computer courses are FREE.

Lakeshore: Thurs. May 3, 1:30-3:30pm


In this course you will: 
•    Learn the parts of the computer
•    Learn to use a mouse with Mousercise
•    Explore the Desktop
•    Open and close a program
•    Use the File menu
•    Learn about your computer’s drives
•    Start, restart and shut down a computer
•    Learn simple troubleshooting

This course is best for: people who have never used a computer before, or people who have a hard time clicking and doubleclicking with a mouse.

In this course you will:
•    Discover what the Internet is
•    Learn how to use Microsoft Internet Explorer, a common internet browser
•    Compare search engines
•    Learn how to print web pages
•    Discover how to be safe online
•    Learn simple tips and tricks

This course is best for: people who have never tried the Internet before, and are comfortable using a mouse

In this course you will:
•    Learn how to use Microsoft Word, a common word processing program
•    Discover the Word “ribbon”
•    Learn how to create, save and print a Word document
•    Try some word processing techniques
•    Learn keyboard shortcuts for common commands

This course is best for: people who have a basic level of comfort with a mouse and can type a line or two on a keyboard.

This course is best for: people who have taken Introduction to the Internet or have explored the internet a bit on their own, and who are comfortable using a mouse.

Email 101

In this course you will learn how to create your own Gmail email account, send and receive mail, add contacts, and use attachments.  This course is also suitable for people who already have an email account but would like to learn more about advanced features.  First hour is a demonstration of Gmail and Q&A, second hour is for people who wish to stay and create a Gmail account.

Skype 101

In this course we will learn about Skype, a great online tool for communicating with people around the globe or around the corner.   First hour is a demonstration of Skype and Q&A, second hour is for people who wish to stay and create Skype accounts.

Pinterest 101

Try the newest social sensation!  Learn how you can be your own curator of great web images with this cool online tool.  First hour is a demonstration of Pinterest and Q&A, second hour is for people who wish to stay and create Pinterest accounts.

Your Digital Footprint

In this course you will learn how to browse the net freely and anonymously, and discover how to make your digital footprints disappear.  Everyone is welcome to attend this free lecture and demonstration – computer skills not required.
